I just recently bought a ECS motherboard with 3.2 pent 4 processor.
I had no sound because i had to start over and i went to go download the drivers off the cmedia9880( the proper driver) it says device doesnt exist or manually can be removed .
Now after this ( i havnt really got around to it)
my computer recently just locked up ( due to low ram) when i was playing a game.. i come to turn it back on and it goes to BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH (BSOD) and it says "unmountable_boot_Volume" I looked on the internet and i see that it could be a bad cable or possibly the hardrive.
Im most worried about the Sound right now..
the BSOD I looked how to fix.. if not i will be getting a new hardrive or repairing this one like it said
thanks alot -Andrew

hey andrew, welcome
i think your best bet right now, would be to completely start over with that harddrive, just completely reformat the harddrive and when you do, don't do quick format, do a full disc format to make sure that your boot record has been repaired. that error most likely means that your master boot record is corrupt, or something to that extent
once you get the disc reformatted and xp or w/e os you have, install your chipset drivers first, i think that might have been what happened, i do that sometimes and find that if you install anything else before the chipset, nothing is recognized and installed
if you have any other problems, dont hesitate to ask
again, welcome to insanitech forums, Kyle

Try reseting your CMOS, hopefully you know how, but if you don't, go in your case, and take out the little battery (looks like a nickel) and let it sit for a minute with the power unpluged and no battery. Then place the battery back in the slot, and plug in the AC cord. That might resolve the problem, if it is indeed a cable issue. How much RAM do you have? Maybe you should upgrade if you are a gamer and you have freezing problems. www.insanitechpc.com has RAM if I am correct, if not theres other sites where you can get RAM for cheap, if you do want to upgrade, tell us what RAM you have now and I will tell you what to buy at the lowest price if Kyle can't help you there.
